Last night we went to Great Lakes Beer and Bourbon tasting. It was a joint event between Great Lakes and Jim Beam. I dragged sickly Mike along for him to find out that surprise, he likes small batch bourbon. (Lord help me if we ever get to Scotland.)
We tasted 5 Bourbons:
1. Jim Beam Black Label, 86 proof, 8 years age
2. Basil Hayden, 80 proof, 8 years age
3. Knob Creek, 100 proof, 9 years age
4. Baker’s, 107 proof, 7 years age
5. Booker’s, 121-127 proof, 6-8 years age
Than 3 beers:
1. Unaged Blackout Stout
2. Barrel aged Blackout Stout (6 month age)
3. Rackhouse Ale (7-8 months age)
and one Barley Wine.
The real treat was the Barrel aged beers. Wow! What concectration of flavor. I was truely impressed!
Now, back to the wine world.
