While taking the Advanced WSET wine class, I became interested in trying wines from Priorat, Spain. Mostly because they were the only region in Spain other than Rioja to have DOC or DOQ quality status. DOC or DOQ is the highest level of quality wine in Spain.
As I’ve been trying a number of wines from Priorat, I feel more and more in love. The biggest problem–they start at $30 and go up from there. A few weeks ago one of my distrubitiors brought me a taste of the 05 Onix from the Jorge Orodonez selection. It’s 50% Grenache, 50% Carinena, very good and it’s $14.99!
